General changes
| I want to change my flight date and have paid in full, is this possible? |
|---|
|
It is often possible to change the date on your ticket but you may be charged additional fees for doing so. Please refer to your receipt for the conditions and fees applicable to your particular airfare and contact the branch where you booked to make a change (including bookings made overseas). If you booked on the phone from New Zealand, please call us on 0800 474 400, alternatively, if you booked online at statravel.co.nz, email us on online@statravel.co.nz. Please see further information below about changing US or UK tickets. Any amendments to flight bookings are subject to availability and ticket re-issue fees may apply. |
| Do I get a refund if I cancel my flight? |
|
You will be eligible for a refund only if you cancel before departure. The amount you receive will also depend on the type of fare you purchased. Some tickets are totally non-refundable (typically cheap specials/online fares), some may be refunded directly by the carrier or some can only be processed by the STA Travel. Please contact your booking branch for more information. Please note cancellation fees from STA Travel will apply on top of any airline cancellation fees. |
| Can I extend my ticket validity (length of travel time)? |
|
No, tickets cannot be extended beyond the maximum validity as stated in your fare rules. If you are unsure of how long you can travel on your airfare, check with your booking branch. |
e-ticket changes
| I purchased my e-ticket in NZ/AU and I've started travelling, can I request a change to my dates or route? |
|---|
|
Yes. For e-tickets (STA blue tickets or airline issued), the easiest way to request a date change is by contacting the branch who booked your ticket (details available on your receipt). Make sure you tell them in the email which flights you would like to change the dates of, your full name and folder number, which is found on your receipt or itinerary from STA Travel. |
| I purchased my e-ticket in the USA and I'm travelling in NZ, can I request a change to my dates or route? |
|
Yes. To make an enquiry to change your American purchased e-ticket from STA Travel, go to statravel.com and use the Travel Help Request Form or Chat Live service. Alternatively call +1 (480) 592.0868 ext. 1 or the airline who issued your ticket. |
| I purchased my e-ticket in the UK and I'm travelling in NZ, can I request a change to my dates or route? |
| Yes. To make an enquiry to change your UK issued e-ticket, please fill out the Global Travel Help online form. Please be aware that not all tickets are date changeable – full conditions may be obtained from your receipt, otherwise contact your booking branch for the full terms. Any changes permitted are subject to flight availability and fees will apply. |
| I purchased my e-ticket outside the UK, US and NZ, can I request a change to my dates or route? |
| Yes you can request a change, however you will need to contact the airline directly to do this. Please be aware that not all tickets are date changeable – full conditions may be obtained from your receipt, otherwise contact your booking branch for the full terms. Any changes permitted are subject to flight availability and airline fees may apply. |
STA paper ticket changes
| I have an STA Travel paper ticket, can I change my travel dates? |
|---|
|
Changes can usually be made within the validity of your ticket. To view the validity of your ticket, look for the date in the Not Valid After (‘NVA’) box for the flight you want to change. If your new date is prior to this date, you might be able to change your travel date. Also, take a look at the restrictions/endorsements box at the top of your ticket, this may have additional information such as “CHANGES NOT PERMITTED” or "TRAVEL MON-WED ONLY". These types of endorsements will usually mean that your ticket cannot be changed or may only be changed as indicated. |
| I have an STA Travel paper ticket, can I change my travel route? |
|
Making changes to your itinerary may involve simply reissuing your ticket or may require that the unused value of your old ticket be applied toward a completely new ticket (the second option is only available to tickets issued prior to 18 May 2009). |
| I have an STA Travel paper ticket, can I extend my travel validity? |
|
No. The validity of your ticket cannot be extended but you may, however, be able to obtain a Credit Value on your ticket (only available to tickets issued prior to 18th May 2009). Contact your nearest Travel Help branch and they will advise you further. |
Standard paper ticket changes
| I have a standard airline paper ticket, can I change my travel dates? |
|---|
|
Changes can usually be made within the validity of the ticket. To make any changes to this ticket before departure please contact your booking branch and after departure you will need to contact the airline of the flight you wish to change locally. |
| I have a standard airline paper ticket, can I change my travel route? |
|
Routing changes to standard (non STA) paper tickets need to be made directly with the airline that is operating the flight. You will need to contact the local airline office of the country that you are currently in (we suggest that you use an Internet search engine to find the website of the relevant airline and obtain local contact details). |
