| 1. Who is eligible for travel insurance cover? |
| Answer: Our insurer, Travelsure Insurance, will provide cover for travellers of all ages, however sometimes restrictions can apply depending on age and also pre existing medical conditions. We have two levels of cover available to buy in our branches or via our Telesales team: Options – available to all travellers Essentials - for travellers under 69 years old |
| 2. What counts as a family on a travel insurance policy? |
| Answer: A family on a travel insurance policy means two adults travelling together and their own accompanying dependent children under 21 years of age, and up to one other non-related child under 21 years of age. |
| 3. Are there discounted travel insurance rates for children and infants on single trip cover? |
| Answer: With our travel insurance, your own accompanying dependent children, aged under 21 years, are covered free of charge under your policy. If more than one non-related child is accompanying you, then you must pay a separate premium for the additional child/children. |
| 4. What Area of Travel do I chose if I visiting more than 1? |
|
Answer: Select the Area in which you will be spending most of your time. Area 1 is compulsory if more than 20% of your time is going to be spent in the Americas. If the main destination is within Area 3, you can still travel to other areas without paying additional premium. |
| 5. Do I have to be under 69 years old to purchase the Essential insurance plans? |
|
Answer: Yes, this level of cover is only open to travellers under the age of 69 years at the date of purchasing the policy. All ages are able to purchase the Options policy, which does also give travellers increased limits of cover. This policy is only able to be purchased in an STA Travel branch or via Telesales. |
| 6. Can I buy insurance if I don’t have a New Zealand passport? |
| Answer: Yes, but you can only purchase the Essentials Policy through STA Travel branches or Telesales. |

7. Can I buy travel insurance if I don’t live in the New Zealand? |
|
Answer: Yes. If you are undertaking a return trip (from and back to New Zealand), that does not include your home country, and that you have purchased from STA Travel in New Zealand, you can purchase an Options or Essentials Policy in one of our branches or via Telesales. If you are leaving New Zealand permanently, you must purchase an Essentials Policy up until the date you arrive back in your home country. |

| 1. What are the cancellation conditions for travel insurance? |
|
Answer: You can cancel your insurance policy within 15 working days of the date your insurance policy was issued. Policies are fully non-refundable if a claim is being made. |
| Medical Cover |

1. Is pregnancy covered by travel insurance? |
|
Answer: Cancellation due to pregnancy is covered if complications due to pregnancy arise after the travel insurance was purchased and your GP confirms the need to cancel the trip due to this. Cancellation is also covered if pregnancy is discovered after purchasing the travel insurance and the pregnancy will exceed 20 weeks on the date of departure from New Zealand. If you have experienced complications with the current or past pregnancies, or the conception was medically assisted, cover is not automatic and must be applied for. |
| 2. Will your travel insurance plans cover me for a pre-existing medical condition? |
| Answer: Travelsure Insurance automatically accepts a large number of pre-existing medical conditions and free of charge (Please refer to page 7 & 8 of the policy wording). Conditions outside of these require the completion of an assessment form. There is no cost to apply for cover, however additional premium and/or restrictions may apply for accepted cover of pre-existing condition.
An ‘Existing Medical Condition’ means: If you are not sure regarding a condition, please refer to page 7 & 8 of the policy wording or contact your travel adviser. |

1. Are bikes covered on your travel insurance policies? |
| Answer: Yes – subject to the following conditions: • Options policy - maximum cover is $1,500 • Essentials policy - maximum cover is $750 It is possible to increase these limit levels with the payment of additional premium. Cover only applies if the bike is damaged while in transit or stolen from a locked, secure compound. |

2. Is sports equipment covered on your travel insurance policies? |
| Answer: Yes – subject to the following: • Options policy maximum cover is $1,500 • Essentials policy maximum cover is $750 No cover applies for sporting equipment while it’s in use. |

3. Is my luggage covered by your travel insurance if it is stolen from a locked vehicle? |
| Answer: Luggage will be covered, however the theft of money, valuables and electrical goods will not be covered if these are left unattended (and this includes unattended motor vehicles).
You must ensure that you have taken precautions and care to prevent your possessions being stolen i.e. acted as though you were uninsured in order for us to meet your claim. You will not be covered if you leave luggage unattended in the vehicle overnight (dusk – 8am). |

4. Is my luggage covered by your travel insurance if it is stolen from a tent? |
| Answer: Yes, as long as the tent is closed, locked and is your only holiday accommodation at the time of the loss. However money, valuables (e.g. jewellery, audio equipment), passports, travel tickets and the like will not be covered.
You must ensure that you have taken precautions and care to prevent your possessions being stolen i.e. acted as though you were uninsured in order for us to meet your claim. You will not be covered if you leave luggage unattended in the tent overnight (dusk – 8am). |

| 1. Will I be covered by your travel insurance plans while skiing or snowboarding? |
| Answer: Yes – provided you are skiing/snowboarding on the commercially licensed ski area and have paid the appropriate additional premium for coverage. |

1. What is the excess on travel insurance claims? |
|
Answer: Excess is applicable to each claim that is made within the following sections of the policy: medical and dental expenses, additional expenses, amendment and cancellation costs, luggage and travel documents and delayed luggage allowance. There is a $100 and $250 excess option available and if chosen, will lower the cost of your insurance premium. However, if you need to make a claim, this is the amount you will have to pay first! |
| 2. Does your travel insurance cover me for natural disasters? |
| Answer: Yes! Providing your policy was issued prior to the natural disaster becoming known, your insurance policy will cover you! |
| 3. Can I get travel insurance cover for only part of my trip? |
| Answer: It is not recommended to get travel insurance for only part of your trip, however it is possible to have a policy to cover part of your trip with the following conditions: • A minimum premium of 3-days on the departure • There is no cover for existing medical conditions or specified items • No claim will be met for any event that occurs during the uninsured portion of the journey (including cancellation costs) If you decide to stay away longer than you originally intended when you bought your insurance, you are able to extend the cover (as long as it has not expired) after your trip has started. |
| 4. What is the maximum length I can take out a travel insurance policy for? |
| Answer: The maximum length on a single trip is 12 months (from the start date of the original policy). You can extend a policy for a further 6 months provided the original policy has not expired before you request the extension and no claims have been made. It is not possible to extend an Area 1 policy beyond 12 months. |
| 5. Is my travel insurance cover still valid if I need to return to New Zealand partway through my trip? |
| Answer: If you have purchased a single trip policy, your cover will finish at the time that you return to New Zealand and it cannot be re-started if you leave again to re-commence your trip. |
| 6. Will your travel insurance cover me to work abroad? |

Answer: If you plan on undertaking work whilst you are on your trip, please check at the time of booking whether the type of work you plan to undertake will be covered under our travel insurance policies. Please note that personal liability while at work will never be covered under our insurance. A sample of the occupations that are covered under our insurance are office/admin work, bar work, dancing, teaching, care work, light building/DIY, fruit picking, domestic work, nannying/childminding and gardening with/without light power tools. |
| 7. Does your travel insurance cover me if I start my trip outside New Zealand? |
| Answer: No, your trip must start from New Zealand itself in order for travel insurance cover to be valid. |
| 8. Is repatriation always to New Zealand? |
| Answer: Yes. If you wish to be repatriated somewhere other than New Zealand you can be, but the costs covered by your travel insurance would be limited to the cost of repatriation back to New Zealand. |
