The people, the food, the beach, the manta rays, the snokerling and also staying up playing ring of fire with the ever present diving instructor was a highlight. to be honest out of all the islands i stayed on in fiji this was one of the best, i had an awesome time with the people i met and keep in contact with them to this day, anyone travelling alone or with a friend or two will love it here, its so easy to meet people, especailly with the size of the dorm which suprisngly is very spacious and quite nice.

The best part about Manta Ray Resort were getting to swim with Manta Rays. Also snorkeling the beautiful coral reef just off the beach where I saw octopi and a white tip reef shark, was top notch. As well the food was fantastic, with a huge menu.

They said that the chef at the resort used to work as the head chef at the Sofitel on the main island. We weren't disappointed by the quality and variety of food on offer. While the meal package was a little dear, it was definitely worth it and a welcome change from the slightly more budget meals we had been eating for the duration of the trip.
Manta Ray resort is definitely a place to relax, whether you are sitting on the beach under the fuzzy heat of the sun, kayaking across to other islands, fishing or snorkelling amongst the amazingly rich marine life of the surrounding coral reefs. A moment that will forever remain with me was floating amongst a gigantic flowing school of thousands of fish who were rushing around me as if i wasn't there. The variety and beauty of the fish underwater was absolutely breathtaking and I wish I had had enough money in the end to go Scuba as that would have capped it off!
However, the highlight would have to be swimming with the Manta Rays, which is what the resort is famous for. To swim amongst these giant noble creatures of the water was a true privilege and honour. The way they glide along effortlessly, their gaping mouths open, was an amazing experience and one I will never forget!
As always in Fiji, the staff are all full of the friendly Fiji spirit and one night we wandered down to the staff headquarters and were promptly invited to join in a Kava ceremony with the locals, drinking and conversing deep into the middle of the night.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Manta Ray island resort and left with many new friendships and memories that I would share for many years to come.
