Rickateers

Rickateers
Kiaora and welcome to The Rickshaw Run, please keep all limbs inside the rickshaw at all times. In the likely event of an emergency - grin and bear it.  At 10am on the 10th of September 2011 the Rickateers (Tony Lyall, Christiaan Abernethy and Greg Campbell) depart on a 5000km journey in a...wait for it...rickshaw!

The Rickateers will be heading across India from Shillong to "The Golden City" of Jaisalmer, Rajastan while fundraising for Frank Water and The NZ Red Cross.  The lads will spend 2 weeks travelling around 8 hours a day at a max speed of 55km/h with… well, no road rules in a machine that is probably less technically advanced than a boat, just as sluggish, and has more chance of crashing than the first Wright brothers plane.
STA Travel have come onboard to help with flights, you can help too by donating to either one of their charities. From start to finish the Rickateers are absolutely unaided with no support crew.  Help the Rickateers help the people of India through sustainable clean water systems thanks to Frank Water.  Or give a helping hand closer to home by donating to the NZ Red Cross in what is undeniably an extremely important time for them!  Stay tuned for all the updates - head to the Rickateers webpage or check out the Rickateers Facebook page to make a donation.  Good luck lads!
