'It broadens the mind maaaan'... All jokes aside it is really because of the fantastic people I have met, music I have been introduced to and the incredible contrasting landscapes.

Hey Mark, how long have you been with STA Travel?
I've been with STA Travel for three years now but have been working in the travel industry on and off for a decade. You can find me in the

Where have you travelled to?
More than 50 countries (and counting!).

What’s your favourite destination?
A tough call, but it would be a tie between hiking around ancient Petra in Jordan and overlanding between Costa Rica and Guatemala in Central America.

What’s your best travel memory?
Hiking with the 'M' group chimpanzees in the wilds of the Mahele Mountains National Park in remote western Tanzania.

A memorable hiccup was leaving my passport at immigration, having a chimp throw rocks at me and getting lost in the Blue Mountains outside of Sydney with an American pilot and a Mexican accountant.

Why do you love travel?
It opens your eyes up to the world, doesn't it? When you're at home doing your 9-5 it's easy to forget how large the world actually is. Travel lets you break out of that bubble and awakens the senses... there's a lot out there to be seen!

What would be your perfect Round the World trip?
Fly into Beijing after a quick stop in Kuala Lumpur, then take the Vodkatrain to St Petersburg... over to Turkey to visit the ANZAC memorials and after sailing in Croatia have a quick pizza in Rome en route to Rio de Janiero and kick back on the Copacabana for a few days. Stop at Iguassu Falls before eating as much meat as you can in the La Boca area of Buenos Aires and flying home! Phew!

What’s your hot travel tip?
Pack the night before – don't leave it until the morning otherwise you'll do what I did and forget to pack your socks...

Hey Micaela, how long have you been with STA Travel?
Just over a year now. I am based in our Auckland University store.

Where have you travelled to?
The UK - The London Underground, shopping, pubs and people who are speaking English but you haven't a clue what they're saying!

Europe - From the beautiful Tulips and cosy cafes in the Netherlands and the wine and movie-like country side in France, to the amazing food, immense history, markets down alley way streets and beautiful crystal clear water in Italy and Greece, I loved it all!

Africa - Such an incredible variety of landscape, people and animals all thrown in to a boiling pot of flavours, colours and magic! Literally hundreds of different cultures, each with their own language, beliefs, food and ways of life.

Asia - Completely different to anywhere else and such extremes going on. Huge shopping malls to bustling water markets. Immense rain and wind to calm warm bays and a cocktail in hand.

Australia - Sun, surf, sand, shopping and theme parks!.
The Pacific - Such deep roots of culture and family orientated customs. Lovely people. Soooo much yummy fruit and seafood! Sunny, beautiful and calm. Island tiiiiime.

What’s your favourite destination?
Cape Town South Africa and Lesvos Greece

What’s your best travel memory?
This one is really difficult to answer. My favourite travel memories are all in Africa and Greece with great places and even better family and friends. Trips are nothing without people to experience them with. Take friends or make ‘em along the way!

Why do you love travel?
It lets you experience all the colours the world has to offer.

What would be your perfect Round the World trip?
Auckland to South East Asia for some fried grasshoppers, rainforest exploring and island hopping. From there I'd jet to East Africa for some animal spotting and a little hike, up a little hill called Kilimanjaro. Onward to the coast to experience the spices of Zanzibar. From there down to Cape Town! I love Cape Town! Green market square to stock up on kikoys, Kaulk bay for all the little cafes, strip shopping and my very big, very loud South African Greek family in Camps Bay. From there I'd jet off to Sao Paolo Brazil in search of Igussau falls, venturing onward into the Amazon and out to the Galapagos islands. I'd make my way upward through Central America into North America exploring all the food and music hot spots, San Fran, LA, New Orleans, Nashville and New York. From New York I'd hop to London with a stop in Iceland on the way. After tea and cake of various varieties through Europe, I'd make my way to the Greek Islands and there I would stay!

What’s your hot travel tip?

Hey Jermaine, how long have you been with STA Travel?
Just under a year, you can find me at the Riccarton store in Christchurch.

Where have you travelled to?
22 countries and counting and yes, I do class Vatican City as a country!

What’s your favourite destination?
I can never pick one so I'm picking two for different reasons.

1. For pleasure it would be Koh Rong - Cambodia. Such an awesome place to relax and chill out. $40USD a night IN TOTAL for a room for 4 people in a beachfront bure with a hammock looking over the amazing beaches. Google it.

2. For culture it would be Kolkata - India. Living and working in a city that never sleeps is amazing. They say you're either a Europe person or an Asian person and I love Asia. India has such a rich history and working in hospitals throughout the city really makes you appreciate New Zealand but also your life in general. I think everyone needs to do a working holiday or a voluntour in Asia, you won’t regret it.

What’s your best travel memory?
Watching the sun rise over the Ganges River and watching a cremation take place on the side of the river banks. It's so amazing, one minute the suns down and its pitch black and then when the sun comes up it sheds it's light over the river and you see India come to life!

Why do you love travel?
Of the excitement, the thrill or arriving into a foreign city for the first time and being able to meet people! From my travels so far I think I have a bed in nearly 50 countries which can be booked with a simple Facebook message. Meeting people is the key to travel, being able to exchange stories and give people tips and tricks is the best form of information and I think that's why our job is so good.

What would be your perfect Round the World trip?
Auckland - Manila - Tokyo (make your own way to) Hong Kong - Kathmandu - Cairo (make your own way to) Barcelona - Mexico City (make your own way to) Buenos Aries - Auckland. Need at least 12 months for this one!

What’s your hot travel tip?
Don't over plan. Chances are your plans will change the minute you get somewhere so jump on a tour, give yourself enough time at the end and wing it!

Hey David, how long have you been with STA Travel?
11 Months, you can find me at the St Lukes store in Auckland.

Where have you travelled to?
I have grown up and traveled in Europe.
I've experienced the Middle East, Africa, South East Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Hawaii. I also have spent a short time on the West coast of North America, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.

What’s your favourite destination?
I love Fiji, I have spent a whole month travelling the Yasawa islands, it is such a paradise which is only made more beautiful from the white beaches, clear water and amazing food. The people who live and work on the Yasawa Island really do make it a place you want to return to

What’s your best travel memory?
Me and another back packer cycling around an island in Southern Laos, Don Det and having a monkey jump from a tree and steal my friend’s sunglasses. Thankfully the monkey didn't appreciate his fake ray bans.

Why do you love travel?
No day is the same, You really are challenging yourself and always learning. Some of the best memories I have are with people who I may have only known for a couple of days but are so like minded as me, that you just get on from the start. I would recommend traveling to everyone!!

What would be your perfect Round the World trip?
I would leave from New Zealand and head over to South America, I would start in Peru and finish in Brazil before flying to Portugal and traveling around Europe then fly in to Africa before heading to New Zealand with a stop over in Hong Kong, and If I had the time travel around South East Asia before coming back to New Zealand.

What’s your hot travel tip?
Be adventurous, remain flexible, friendly, and open minded.
