Tour style - Learn & Volunteer

14 days

This volunteering travel package enables participants to provide education, care and empowerment to the communities they visit. Working in local schools, volunteers offer much needed support to local teachers, adding to the children's educational experience by instructing classes while helping to develop students' positive attitudes about personal hygiene and school attendance. Working in local schools gives volunteers a chance to meet regularly with local children and their families. When schools are not in session, volunteers utilize resources provided by Idex and the community to run independent classes in English and Math. Volunteers also teach at special schools for mentally challenged children, providing much needed emotional support and teaching educational and vocational skills. For those volunteers with a professional interest in education, this opportunity offers a chance to hone skills in a unique environment. Volunteers may also assist in local child-care centers, known as Aanganbari. Unfortunately, Aanganbaris suffer from under funding and mismanagement. Volunteers share the work load with regular staff and help bring a level of professionalism, dedication and the community's attention to these important institutions. In addition to this work, volunteers will have ample opportunity for experiencing local cultures and lifestyles as well as plenty of free time to travel further a field and combine volunteer work with well-earned R&R!
  • Day 1

On arrival at Delhi airport, keep your eyes peeled for the beaming IDEX paging board accompanied by your bubbly tour leader who will transfer you to your first night's accommodation at the IDEX camp in Goa.

  • Day 2

After an early breakfast, take part in a friendly and interesting welcome meeting, which will provide a load of interesting information about this project and your role as a volunteer. This is also a great opportunity to meet your fellow volunteer buddies! The evening is yours free - including a complimentary communal dinner.

  • Day 3 - The days itinerary

And the real adventure finally begins! On your first day of the volunteering period, get things started with a wholesome breakfast before transferring to your appointed project base. You will spend the morning working at your respective school, social centre or development project until lunchtime when you'll return to camp for a tasty meal and a spot of R&R. It's then back to work until the late afternoon when you'll return to camp for some free time, followed by a delicious dinner feast! The next morning, rise and shine bright and early, fit and fighting to do it all again! Volunteers can expect to have all weekends free for traveling, socializing or repose as they feel fit. Please note that the volunteer period will be extended in weekly blocks according to the amount of time the client has booked to participate in the tour.
